i’m no longer associated with the religion but i am not so pro university.

it’s not because i think you are better off without a degree.

Older JWs who go Overseas to Live

i know of two older couples who have gone overseas to live in recent years.

one could be classified in my opinion as a “need greater” although i think it might also have to do with getting more for their money.

the other i think was seeking out a cheaper and more naturally beautiful environment to live in their retirement years.. what i wondered is if these people are disenchanted and bored with life in the states.

Big joke is need greaters move to a place that needs them because so many move there.

They also almist always abandon a congregation that needs them to start with.

It is all about a cushy retirement

i used to work with an elder every day for several years.

one thing that helped me out of the cult was his hypocrisy.

our work was in construction and it would often run us late for meetings.

As for the rest, a debit is a usual way to handle money now. The spiritual benefit is as great or greater in churches. There is an argument that the small local outfit needs support for ehatever community good they do. My donations go locally only to support what my wife receives.

How old is old?

having a conversation with a pimi elder and i asked him how he deals with the fact that he never expected to get old.

i get the feeling that some dubs still have the original generation explanation hard-wired, even though they claim to accept the new version.

so my question is, how old do you have to be to be considered old?

Going in different directions

was visiting with some old friends a while ago, and got to hear some interesting updates about their congregation.. there is a new family moved in, from the ukraine, and are very zealous.

when giving their experience (they're quite new in the "truth") they feel strongly that the religion has changed their life.. they were ready to divorce, but from studying the bible, etc., they are now a happy family.. its really a yearbook type example that make a lot witnesses feel vindicated.. on the other extreme, in the same congregation, a teenager just graduating (an elders son) just up and left and moved in with a "worldly" family.

he told his parents he doesn't believe it's the truth, and actually believes in evolution.. he was being "encouraged" to get baptized, but he managed to avoid that.

Every married person gets to the ready for divorce, but most do not; they move past their immature outlooks. There are success stories all over. Moving to a different country and culture will reinforce the family too.

The same story can be told aboutmany teens helped by friends, not just JWs.

There was a young sister here who went to college and got pregnant. Proof college is bad. I get yelled at when i point out she was hot to trot anyway so would have ended up a pregnant bethelute
